HOT CELLS

HOT CELLS

The experimental process requires using hot cells to manage experimental devices before and after irradiation.

The JHR Materiel Test Reactor has a total of 7 hot cell , 4 large ones and 3 smaller ones (see picture below):

• Two large hot cells to house the irradiated experimental fuel and materials after technological irradiation experiments performed in the reactor

• One hot cells for receiving, conditioning and removing experimental samples, fuel assemblies and production targets used to make radioisotopes

• One hot cells for handling experimental fuels that have been pushed to their limits (the large alpha cell)

• Three small hot cells for non-destructive examinations on fuel and material samples.
