The gamma spectrometry Non-Destructive Examination Bench into the pool of a test facility
The acceptance of the X-ray tomography and gamma spectrometry non-destructive examination benches was pronounced by the CEA and VTT on december 21th 2022. These benches will allow non-destructive examination of technological irradiation devices containing experimental samples before and after irradiation in the reactor.
These equipment were made as part of an In Kind contract; the CEA and its Finnish partner VTT specified and monitored the design and construction of these 2 test benches. For 8 years, this project involved a team from the CEA for the monitoring of the design, the monitoring of the manufacture, the assembly and the commissioning tests.
These equipment will be tested and used in the TOTEM test facility, at the CEA Cadarache site before being installed in the JHR. (The facility has been renovated to accommodate, among other, these high-tech equipment).
